Girlfriend, I've got to tell you something:
If you want 2019 to be different than every other year, then it is time to buckle up and approach it differently than you have any other year.
It might sound harsh, but a little tough love goes a long ways and I want nothing more than to see you achieve everything you want for 2019.
Stop and think about the years gone by.
Did you tell yourself that you were going to do it different, that things were going to change and that this was your year?
But then what happened? If you are much like 99% of everyone else out there, the motivation and determination faded quickly and you fell back into your rut.
I once read a quote that said:
"You don't rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems."
And that my friends is the truth! It's also exactly what we are going to be talking about today: Systems, routines, and habits. These are the foundations of any success. Everything you do or don't achieve is a result of what you have (or have not) done.
After my last baby, I wanted to get healthier. I was carrying an extra 20lbs that for the first time in my life I could not get rid of.
Had I had 4 babies? Yes! Was that a reasonable "excuse" to continue on with my bad habits that I had also created? No! Not if I wanted anything to change!
One of the bad habits I had created was the unhealthy habit of eating a poor breakfast. So, when I decided it was time to change I didn't just cut out the waffles and sausage I had been indulging in. I replaced that poor breakfast choice with a healthy smoothie.
If I had just worked on breaking the habit without another healthier plan in place, I would have quickly reverted back to my old poor choices.
You can do this too with any aspect of your life that you are currently dissatisfied with.
Successful people don't just become an immediate success, they create their success over time by doing the actions needed to achieve the results they want. They create success rituals.
Today we are going to dive into 15 weaknesses that you may be experiencing and map out strategies for you to overcome them.
This is probably the most common challenge in all different walks of life. You want things to change, but you don't want to change.
I get it, change is uncomfortable and the most painful part of growth. But, if you want 2019 to be your year then you need to be committed to going all-in and showing up for yourself and your business differently than you have before.
Girl, it's never going to be perfect. There will always be something you can wait on to feel 'ready'. The only option is to go all-in now.
Clarity comes with action. You can never be ready by getting ready. Take the action, make the mistakes, learn, grow, repeat.
Do you plan your days, weeks, months and years? If you don't plan out your days, your actions, and your business, you can't possibly know exactly what it is that you need to be doing to move your business forward efficiently.
If you don't start planning today, you will regret it tomorrow.
It doesn't have to be fancy, but start planning out your days and the actions you will be taking to achieve the result(s) you want in 2019.
Start by listing three key action items that you need to accomplish and plan to do them every day! Messy action + a plan = success. Every. Single. Day.
Living is all about learning as you go. Every day you only grow if you take risks.
Those feeling of inadequacy can easily become hurdles that you allow to stop you in your tracks, but learning to transform them into motivators is key. Taking messy action teaches you more than waiting, reading, and research ever will.
Each time you get a rejection or a 'no' it is easy to have that hold you back. Learning to continue on despite the 'no' is where success lies.
If you feel good about something, stop taking the opinion of others to heart. We are unfortunately conditioned to believe everything we hear, but the opinion of others is often tied to their own fears, situation, and limiting beliefs.
Not everything in your life is your fault, but it is your responsibility.
You can't change what happens to you, but you can change the response you have and the actions you take as a result. Leave the past behind you and create the future you want by taking responsibility for it.
You want everything to be perfect, this leads to procrastination because you continually are perfecting your product, your offer, and your social media posts.
This destroys your mindset and motivation. Take a break, reflect, and then put it out there! Remember, messy action leads to success!
Personal growth is key but only when the foundation of that growth is built upon truth. A radical honesty with yourself. Stop making excuses for yourself, your lack of actions and your past choices.
If you can't be honest with yourself, things start falling apart. You blame others, you blame fate, you blame the situation you had no control over. But this doesn't lead to positive changes and instead causes you to feel resentful of the person or situation you have inaccurately placed the blame and responsibility on.
It is tough, but once you are through the pain and discomfort of accepting your truth and unapologetically standing in it, you will feel so free!
We like to think we know all the answers. But the reality is that things are constantly changing. Success does not depend on always being right, you instead have to be open to progress, learning, and change.
Learning to learn from other people who you may not necessarily agree with can sky rocket your learning because it opens up your mind to a whole world of new possibilities you may have never considered before.
Unfortunately there will always be critical people in life.
They know all the reasons why you shouldn't try or do anything new (and are quick to share these with you). Don't listen to them, instead spend time talking to one of the millions of people you could find that will support you and see your potential.
(Online groups and relationships are a fantastic resource for this. The Women of Impact Network is a free Facebook group that I host and is a great place for you to find like-minded women. You can find it and request to join here: bit.ly/WIN-FB-Group
You likely think other people are thinking of you much more than they ever are.
It is your own insecurities and fears that project the reality that other people are judging and criticizing you much more than the reality is.
What you think others are thinking of you is quite often skewed with your own negativity and limiting beliefs. Change the story today!
The pictures in your head that go against the present reality or are projecting a future reality that isn't guaranteed to ever exist.
When I chose to make a major career change and walk away from professional racing, I felt like it was a huge failure. That was a lie. It became the best thing I could have done for myself and my future. BUT, when it felt hard, it was because I was holding onto the idea of a bright future that hadn't yet become a reality.
Effort and sacrifice are always needed to achieve any goal or level of success.
Rising above difficulties and achieving goals is the most empowering action you can take. Imagine decades from now on your death bed. When you look back, you won't remember the 'easy' times, you will remember when you made the effort to rise to the challenge and achieve your goals.
If you feel stuck in life it's time to shift your focus to the circumstances of others - ask "how can I help in a way that is ALSO fulfilling to me?"
Make an offer someone can't refuse. Creating a positive difference in others will help you dramatically.
In the same way that helping other women and moms was the starting point to my business growing. I didn't start out trying to build a business, I started out just trying to help other mompreneurs in a way that fulfilled and excited me.
You keep biting off massive chunks and then become frustrated because it isn't happening for you.
Small daily choices + daily consistency = lifelong success.
That being said, the absolute greatest mistake is to do nothing because
you refuse to do a little.
The little rituals that you do daily is so much more productive than taking a giant leap that causes you to stumble and risk not getting up. The path to any goal requires 100 small steps.
Whether you are reading this at the end of 2018, the beginning of 2019, or beyond, know that it is never too early or too late to begin to make the changes needed to improve your life.
Today is always the perfect day to carve out a better future for yourself.
